Eight schools earned 2020 Partnership School Awards from the National Network of Partnership Schools (NNPS) at Johns Hopkins University. They are using research-based approaches to develop comprehensive, goal-linked programs of school, family, and community partnerships.

Like all schools in NNPS, the award winners are working to ensure welcoming schools for all families and community partners and to conduct partnership activities that contribute to student achievement in specific subjects, attendance, behavior, health, post-secondary planning, or other goals for student success.

In their award applications, schools’ Action Teams for Partnerships (ATPs) described an activity to involve more and different families or produce results for student success in school. Repeat award-winners must show how their programs improved over time. The activities (below) are part of each school’s annual One-Year Action Plan for Partnerships (also submitted). This year, school award applications also required information on how the ATP is going beyond implementing a good “activity” to strengthen the school’s partnership program using teamwork, input from families, and support from colleagues and others. Awardees documented the members and positions of teachers, parents, administrators, and others on the ATP. Principals signed the application to show their knowledge and support for the ATP and school’s partnership program.
